Back in 2018, I had the honor of reviewing Pigweed’s self-titled debut album for the magazine. It was one of my first reviews, and their brand of Texas metal really blew me away.

Well, these San Antonio boys are back and in a huge freaking way. Signed to Curtain Call Records, Pigweed dropped their new single. “Mi Salvacion” on July 17, 2020, and they have a monster surprise guest vocalist in tow. Cristian Machado formerly from metal heavyweights, Ill Nino lays down some killer vocals alongside Pigweed vocalist, David Magallanez. The track opens up massive with the triple guitar attack of Corey Epps, Danny Young, and Mauricio Ortega. Overall, these guys have come a long way in the past two years. They are definitely are force to be reckoned with when it comes to up and coming metal bands.

If this track is any indication of things to come, then Pigweed are well on their way to establishing themselves in the world of metal.

Rating: 9/10 Stars.
