On August 14, 2020, Grammy Award Winning artists Halestorm released a brand new EP that will only be available exclusively through the band’s web store. Entitled Reimagined, the band took a handful of fan favorite tracks and recreated and reimagined them.

Lead vocalist and frontwoman, Lzzy Hale comments, “Over the last decade, we’ve been putting out cover EPs in between every original album cycle just for fun, but this time around we decided to shake it up! For our Reimagined EP, we committed to only one cover but filled the rest with reimagined versions of Halestorm songs.”

“I Get Off” from their self-titled debut, Halestorm gets things started, and it sounds incredible. The intensity of the original version still remains, however, the band injected some unexpected elements of soul and funk which elevate the song to whole new level.

“I Miss the Misery” has been transformed into a haunting masterpiece. Going and unplugged and giving this track the acoustic treatment unveils more of the heartbreaking and raw emotional side of the song, especially the lyrics.

From Into the Wild Life, “I Am the Fire” also gets stripped down musically. While the intensity of the original has been toned down, the feeling of empowerment still resonates throughout.

Halestorm has always been known to choose really great covers to record, and with this EP, they have knocked it out of the park. Stemming from fan requests, the band recorded their take on the Dolly Parton classic, “I Will Always Love You”, which was also made famous by Whitney Houston. It is just Lzzy (Hale) and her piano for the majority of the song, and it is just as breathtaking as you would imagine it to be. At the 2:30 mark, acoustic guitar joins in, and the track comes to a beautiful close. This song alone is worth the price of the EP.

Definitely one of the more unexpected gems on the EP, is the bluesy reworking of “Mz. Hyde.” The track has a lot of swagger and big time groove. I think all of you listeners will be pleasantly surprised.

While it is not the last track on Reimagined, I did save the best for last. Amy Lee from Evanescence makes a guest appearance on “Break In” from The Strange Case Of…Believe me when I tell you that you will be floored from the second the song begins until the last note. Two of the best voices in rock music today joined forces to record something truly magnificent.

Halestorm has managed to create something extremely personal and very special for their fan base. Reimagined is more than just another release. It is a collection of songs that were carefully re-worked and chosen to make the listener feel something once they press play. You can hear every emotion in each note and in every lyric. This EP is an absolute must have for Halestorm fans and anyone who just appreciates and loves music from the heart
