Static-X is releasing its highly anticipated 8th album, Project Regeneration: Vol 2, on January 26, 2024, via Otsego Entertainment Group. The original line-up of Tony Campos (bass), Koichi Fukuda (lead guitarist, programmer, and keyboardist), and Ken Jay (drummer) is now backed by vocalist/guitarist Xer0. The 13-song album, produced by Xer0 and mixed/mastered by Ulrich Wilde, is a follow-up to Project Regeneration: Vol 1 (2020) and contains the final vocal performances and musical compositions of singer Wayne Static, who passed away in 2014. The album’s first two tracks, “Stay Alive,” and “Zombie” were released in 2023, along with a cover of Nine Inch Nails hit “Terrible Lie.” The album brings back the Evil Disco movement at top volume, heavy, furious, and groovy.

“Black Star” is a stand-out on the album with heavy guitars and catchy, techno/industrial pop programming, which are the core elements of the Evil Disco sound.

The track, “Take Control,” is an aggressive, no-holds-barred anthem. The driving guitars, keys, and programming will make this a huge hit at the shows and in the mosh pits.

Another highlight of the album is the song “Tone.” With its 80s hooky, industrial pop/dance vibes, the programming is perfection and really demonstrates the tight musicianship of the band.

The track “Disco Otsego” is a raucous, fun metal/techno hit that will become another Evil Disco anthem for the masses.

Project Regeneration: Vol 2 provides hit after hit song. Getting to listen to Wayne Static’s final vocals incorporated into new production is haunting yet captivating and powerful. The intense mix of metal, techno, and industrial pop with flawless production makes this an album you want to keep on repeat, as there is always a new sound or element to discover during each listen. Static-X is doing an incredible job of paying homage to Wayne Static and keeping his memory and music alive in the most metal way possible.
