Gin Blossoms launched their summer headline tour on August 1st in Oshkosh, WI. It’s set to run through August 24th in Essex Junction, VT. The band brought along Toad The Wet Sprocket and Vertical Horizon for all dates on the tour. We were absolutely stoked to catch all of the bands this past Friday when they rolled into Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary, NC.

Koka Booth is a fully outdoor venue situated right by Symphony Lake. Concertgoers get a unique experience here with beautiful views all around them. When we arrived just as doors were set to open, there were already thousands of attendees anxiously waiting to get inside.

It wasn’t too long before Vertical Horizon hit the stage. Though they played a short set as an opener, it was still awesome. The set list mainly consisted of songs off their biggest album, 1999’s Everything You Want. This had fans already up and dancing as well as singing along immediately.

After a short set change, Toad The Wet Sprocket came out on stage. Everyone immediately was on their feet at this point. Toad The Wet Sprocket played a huge set, starting off the show with “Something’s Always Wrong.” The band has been celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Dulcinea and included quite a few tracks from the popular album, while still adding a little bit spanning the rest of the years.

The sun had just fully set when Gin Blossoms took the stage. Lead vocalist Robin Wilson would famously grab his tambourine and harmonica for the first track as the band dove into “Follow You Down” off of 1996’s Congratulations, I’m Sorry. This is one of those bands that can easily fill a set list with all of their greatest hits and well, they did. Every song was a full audience sing along and everyone was up on their feet and enjoying every second of it. It’s exactly what you want to experience at a great summer concert and all of the bands on this lineup absolutely delivered.
