The incomparable MAD CHAD has a brand new single and video dropping March 13, 2025, “This Is The Chord That I Play”, off of his forthcoming album, ‘Scorpio Thoughts.’ This unique, emotionally charged single and album is filled with horror, rage, anger, and secrecy. It’s a distinct representation of the way MAD CHAD feels these days that you need to experience for yourself.

MAD CHAD says, ‘“This Is The Chord That I Play”, is an introduction to MAD CHAD the artist. I wrote the song to prove to one of my Berklee colleges that I could write a song that contained many elements from pop, rock, metal, and blues.” He continues, “During the song my lyrics are expressing the choices I make when I create a new song. I am being sarcastic, but I am also making decisions just like this when I’m creating new music. The lyrics describe the process with some detail with music theory, and rhythm choices in the first and second verses as well other song sections. I’m convincing the listener that I can write the song with my lyrical content choices, while adding prosody to the song’s main idea.”
Hailing from Lubbock, TX., the heavy metal, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist plays guitar, bass, drums and piano as well as being a Berklee College of Music Master’s Song Writer. With this, MAD CHAD wanted to capture the thoughts and ideas he had during the day, which started with the phrase, “This Is The Chord That I Play”. It also fit with an assignment he had for his Master’s. To compete the songwriting process, MAD CHAD then tracked the drums, created bass and guitar tracks as well as added some production.
The finishing touches for, “This Is The Chord That I Play”, were the mixing and mastering done by Super Producer and Engineer, Chuck Alkazian. MAD CHAD says, “He’s a musical genius and one of the best humans in this planet. The song shows my stubbornness and annoyance, but it still resonates with a catchy and sarcastic melodies.”
On MAD CHAD’S forthcoming album, ‘Scorpio Thoughts’, the tracks have more of a variety of topics, as opposed to his last album, “Right is RIGHT!”, which is politically charged. MAD CHAD explains, “The mix of screams, vocals, guitars, bass, drums, piano, and other production are similar in nature to keep the music cohesive to MAD CHAD. “Scorpio Thoughts”, has some heavy songs and some hard rock inspired songs. These elements add prosody to the song’s purpose. It also makes the metal exciting and fun!”
What’s next for MAD CHAD is producing more records with some guest musicians and also releasing singles all throughout the spring and early summer. “Scorpio Thoughts,” which MAD CHAD is really proud of, will be dropping this summer. In addition, he is finishing up a “heavy as hell” record with his other metal band Texas 223. MAD CHAD says, “It’s classic horror metal with a dash of anger and rage, which is an excellent vein of metal right now!”
