The dynamic musical duo Andy Platts and Shawn Lee return as Young Gun Silver Fox with their third single, “Born To Dream,” set for release on April 23rd. Taken from their forthcoming album ‘Pleasure’—out May 2nd on Candelion Records—the track invites listeners into a sun-drenched fantasy world of escape and ease.
Young Gun Silver Fox continue to build momentum across national radio, earning support from KCRW, WXPN, KUTX as well as UK’s BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music, and numerous local and specialty stations. Their previous singles, “Stevie & Sly” and “Late Night, Last Train,” have received widespread acclaim and airplay.
“Sometimes the music of YGSF sails close to the Yacht Rock wind,” says Andy Platts. “But it’s always unconscious in its influence—never calculated. This is one of those tunes. Shawn Lee adds, “‘Born To Dream’ was Andy channeling pure Yacht Rock bounce—pushing the pop dial as far as he dared. This song is bouncing its way onto the proverbial boat. A smooth AF anthem for our times.”
Musical chemistry is a rare, intangible thing—but Andy and Shawn have it in spades. Since their first studio session over a decade ago, the creative synergy between them has defined Young Gun Silver Fox’s signature sound.
“For me, coming back to YGSF is like driving to the coast,” Andy reflects. “The moment I smell the ocean air, I think, ‘Wicked, I’m back here again.’ It’s where I can kick back and just enjoy the ride.”
Their fifth album Pleasure took on a more intimate, collaborative approach. After four records crafted remotely—Andy in Norfolk, Shawn in London—this time, Shawn traveled to Andy’s studio, The Prairie, for two in-person writing sessions in December 2024 and January 2025. From a completely blank slate, the duo quickly sparked ideas, with over half the album’s ten tracks emerging from those face-to-face sessions.
The result? A fresh-yet-familiar collection full of sun-kissed pop-soul, west coast AOR, and irresistible grooves—another road trip soundtrack for dreamers chasing the horizon.
