Acclaimed singer-songwriter Tawny Ellis is set to release her sixth full-length studio album, EDGE OF THE WORLD, on June 20, 2025. A bold, emotionally charged return after five years, the album marks a period of creative rebirth and personal transformation for Ellis delivering nine richly textured songs shaped by storytelling, sonic experimentation, and a lifetime of artistic pursuit.
Co-produced with her longtime collaborator and husband Gio Loria at their home studio in Silver Lake, CA, EDGE OF THE WORLD weaves together cinematic soundscapes with folk, pop, rock, and country inflections. Ellis’s signature tenor guitar and mountain dulcimer are the foundation, layered with lush arrangements and haunting melodies.
The title track features a breathtaking guest appearance from Daniel Lanois, legendary producer for U2, Bob Dylan, and Emmylou Harris. Lanois contributes piano and pedal steel on the track, imbuing it with a haunting, woodwind-like atmosphere. “It was a dream come true,” Ellis says. “Listening to him talk about music is a master class.”
The album also features performances by an all-star roster, including; Tim Hanseroth (Brandi Carlile), Corey McCormick (Neil Young, Lukas Nelson), Kaveh Rastegar (Sting, Paul McCartney), Kyle Crane (Neko Case, Daniel Lanois), Joshua Ray Gooch, Carey Frank, and more.
From the autobiographical “Sweet Georgia” to the introspective and socially conscious “Elephant” and the darkly comedic “Scrollin,” each track offers a distinct lens on modern life, memory, and meaning. The album’s themes reflect Ellis’s recovery from personal setbacks, including a major injury, and the emotional fallout of the pandemic, where canceled tours and creative stagnation gave way to new beginnings.
The cover art, painted by Ellis herself, was inspired by a video shoot in Big Sur and captures the album’s central spirit: facing life’s cliffs and leaping into the unknown with hope and courage.
Mixed by Adam Loeffler and Gio Loria, and engineered by Loria, the album is a true collaborative labor of love.
EDGE OF THE WORLD will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, and all major streaming platforms on June 20, 2025.
