Hats off to the guys in Periphery. Doing a tour of amphitheaters is always risky because you never know what kind of mood Mother Nature is going to be in. The band hit Raleigh, North Carolina on 5/13 with a stop at the Red Hat Theater. Shortly before the gates were scheduled to open, lightning was spotted on the radar and the gates were delayed and the waiting began. Then, the sky opened and a downpour began. The delay lasted close to 90 minutes and then the gates opened. People rushed down to the pit in order to try for one of those coveted against the rail spots. We didn’t have to wait long for Spencer Sotelo and guys to hit the stage. Mother Nature caused their set to be cut to a mere 15 minutes. Yes, 15 minutes. I felt bad for the band and for the fans who really wanted to see these guys perform. Some people had driven a long way to see them, but as I said at the beginning, you risk a chance with Mother Nature. The guys delivered two tracks to the crowd before it was time for them to go. A few of the band members hung out at their merch booth after their set. Hopefully some of those disappointed fans were able to make things a little bit better by meeting the guys.
