John Waite is part of the I Want My 80s Tour again and he doesn’t disappoint. The tour made a stop in Raleigh, NC again at the beautiful Red Hat Amphitheater in downtown Raleigh. Waite’s set was short in length but packed with hits. He touched on all aspects of his career from The Babys to his solo career to Bad English. I know he regularly does a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love,” but with such a short set it would have been nice to hear him drop the covers and do “Change” and maybe another John Waite classic. Well, you can’t please them all, right? Still, the guy has a voice as smooth as ever and it was great to see him again. A quick fun fact: John had Kyle Cook (Matchbox 20/Rivers and Rust) join him on this tour on lead guitar. Cook co-wrote and produced several tracks on John’s2011 album Rough & Tumble.
