L.A. rock band BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT continues to unveil their new musical era today with the release of “SEX APPEAL,” the latest single from their forthcoming debut album, “WHERE DID ALL THE BUTTERFLIES GO?” slated to be released on September 5 and produced by acclaimed producer Neal Avron (Fall Out Boy, twenty one pilots, Linkin Park).
“SEX APPEAL” is the sound of a band —comprised of Colie Hutzler, Beepus, Bardo, and Colton Flurry — continuing to push its sonic, lyrical and conceptual boundaries. In tandem with the single’s release, the band also today debuts its official music video, which features an appearance by the acclaimed singer-songwriter Royal & the Serpent. Watch it HERE. Showcasing an equal-aparts wild and sensual heist, the video is pure raucous, rockstar mayhem… but with a deeper meaning.
“SEX APPEAL” is a look in the mirror and that punch in the face that life gives you when you realize you’ve been spending all of yourself on simply coping through the years to find some sort of high in life again. Really we just wanted to make something that sounds sexy and romantic, but has a deeper read as you dissect the lyrics.”
BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT’s first two releases, WE MADE PLANS AND GOD LAUGHED and READY TO EAT, have amassed over 60 million streams globally and more than five million views on YouTube to date, receiving praise from major outlets like Billboard, Alternative Press, SPIN, NME, Grammy.com, Kerrang, Rock Sound, and many others.
The rock band are set to hit the road in a major way this year, touring alongside blink-182 and Alkaline Trio later this summer in addition to newly-announced dates with letlive. Additionally, they’ll be featured as part of both the Idobi Radio Summer School tour as well as on Warped Tour stops in Long Beach, and Orlando. See updated tour dates below.
“SEX APPEAL” is the latest addition to BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT’s recent output. Earlier this month, the band released the thrilling “FEVER,” and earlier this year the band released the first listen to their forthcoming new album with “ON YOUR LIPS,” an experimental rock shot of adrenaline that gave fans a bold taste of what’s to come. The tracks have collectively amassed over 1.2 million streams to date, with ‘ON YOUR LIPS’ receiving airplay on influential stations like SiriusXM’s Alt Nation and KROQ-FM in Los Angeles.
Since their explosive debut in 2022, they have been disrupting the scene with a riotous blend of rebellion, freedom, and unapologetic self-expression. Their music challenges the status quo, celebrates individuality, and channels the frustrations and desires of a generation.
BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT have already made an incredible mark as a live act, touring with blink-182 on their massive arena tour and joining Jaden Hossler (jxdn) across the U.S. They’ve delivered standout sets at major festivals, including four performances at Lollapalooza — with a breakout moment on the BMI Stage in front of 3,000 fans — and a spotlight appearance at Download Festival’s 20th anniversary. Their own highly-touted headline tours have sold out venues in major markets like New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville, while their high-energy rock show has also taken them overseas, with Maggie Lindemann and Stand Atlantic across the UK and Europe.
Signed by A&R Mark Hoppus under the new label Verswire with Pete Wentz and Sherry Saeedi, BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT have spent the past several years not only pounding the pavement and gracing stages across the globe, but also evolving their fiery, infectious rock sound.
The band have collaborated on record with Hoppus (“Almost Famous”) as well as others including jxdn, Royal & the Serpent, and MOD SUN. They’ve also teamed up with hit-making writers and producers including Neal Avron, Mark Hoppus, Andrew Goldstein, Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low, Inverness, Jason Aalon Butler, Jay Kash, Lil Aaron, Jutes, Thrasher, Slush Puppy, and Dan Book.
