In the summer of 2024 REO Speedwagon and Styx visited the Coastal Credit Union Music Park in Raleigh, NC. Fast forward to one year later and it’s the summer of 2025 and Styx returned to the venue on their Brotherhood of Rock Tour, but with REO Speedwagon. Well, sort of. I’m not going to get into all of the politics of it (you can Google it and find that out) but after close to 50 years of fronting REO Speedwagon, Cronin had to drop the band’s name and start touring under the moniker The Kevin Cronin Band. His bandmates include guitarist Dave Amato, drummer Bryan Hitt, keyboardist Derek Hilland and bassist Matt Bissonette. Those names and faces should look familiar to anyone who has been following REO Speedwagon.
On this tour, Kevin is celebrating the 45th anniversary of REO Speedwagon’s massive Hi Infidelity album by playing it in its entirety. Their second set will be other classics hits from the band’s catalog. It was going to be so cool for fans to hear this entire album because it was a rare time to hear some of these tracks live that you’ve never heard in concert before. Mother Nature ruined that for everyone. Details in a moment, but first I have to say this. This is one band that has a blast while they are on stage together. Their chemistry together is undeniable and their fun in so infectious. The band actually had to start their set early because a storm was approaching and Live Nation wanting both them and Styx to get as close to a full set in as possible. Styx and Kevin Cronin have bad luck with summer concerts in Raleigh, NC. They had a storm during their show in Raleigh last year. Well, at least we got a few tracks from Hi Infidelity and a few hits. A full setlist follows the photo gallery.
