Former MTV Spankin’ New featured artist Francesca Fuentes is taking a leap of faith and releasing the lead single “Barely Breathin’” off her full length album, Promise of Patience. Nearly four years in the making, this work is her proudest and most personal yet.

Written in 2021, “Barely Breathin’” is the kickstart to an incredibly long, emotionally-charged breakup
journey. The song captures the suffocating sensation of life without your partner, both metaphorically and literally reflecting feelings of crippling anxiety, nightmares and uncertainty about the future. The work emerged from a period of solitude and the struggle of being alone with one’s thoughts.

Though only a glimpse into the painful road ahead, this bedroom pop anthem sits beautifully alongside early Taylor Swift tunes and Colbie Caillat singer/songwriter pop. Produced by Michael Flannery, the track leans into sounds of the 2000’s. With live drums, gut-wrenching lyrics and hints of sparkling nostalgia, this song paints the doorway to an album full of honesty, vulnerability and raw songwriting.

“Barely Breathin’” arrives on the heels of Fuentes’s big win at the Garden State Film Festival, where she earned the Home Grown Music Video Award for her previous music video release I Just Wanna Be Your Lover Again.
