The last night of the “Thrash of the Titans” North America tour not only ended in the West coast but the hometown of Thrash Metal.
As a bay area concert photographer who grew up in the bay area and listening to thrash metal, I was at the edge of my seat and overly excited to experience this SOLD OUT epic night. The bands played together on at the UC Theatre in Berkeley, CA.
The energy from all the bands was intense. Their performances were explosive “in your face” thrash metal. Testament, Destruction and Parabellum definitely brought out heavy sounds with nostalgia.
Unfortunately, Overkill was unable to play the last show of the tour and were replaced with the NorCal thrash metal boys Parabellum.
Parabellum delivered a classic thrash sound of raw and aggressive riffs to the audience. They definitely carry that old school thrash metal sound while Destruction delivered their brutal German thrash metal to our faces.
Standing in the photo pit was like a mix of a mosh pit and crowdsurf all at once listening to these guys. Destruction was caused for sure with their set. Like the rest of the bands performing this night, the deliverance of Thrash was present at the venue in the Bay area and all enjoyed it.
Testament performed their thrash hits “Over the wall,” “WWIII” and “Into the Pit.” Still after 40 years Testament remains with the same “strike to the face” thrash sound that is unforgettable.
