The 1980’s were swarming with metalheads and new metal bands popping up in absolutely every city. Visit any local venue and you’re bound to get to hear some metal.  Brandon, Florida was no exception. They had a huge local metal scene. Siren came out with huge dreams of making it big. But as sadly many stories go, it just didn’t happen for them.

The guys gave it their all, but once things didn’t happen, much of them decided to just call it quits. Some refusing to even join another band. Instead just deciding to get a career, get married, have kids, and forgetting all about that rock ‘n roll dream. Forgetting it until that day, 35 years later, they got a message from someone at the Keep It True Festival asking if they’d like to come play at their festival… in Germany. What?!

“I’m Too Old For This Sh*t” directed by Nathan Mowery and produced by Chris Jericho (Fozzy) follows the band Siren in their fairy tale of a story. Actually getting that dream to come together and travel to Europe for a festival playing their music like they always wanted.

What I really liked about this documentary is it’s absolutely real. You get to follow these guys just meeting back up, most for the first time in 35 years. Catching up on their lives and come together to really work on how to make this happen. Some of these guys hadn’t even picked up an instrument in 30 years. But they spent the better part of a year working on it together and making this happen. And you know what? They sounded pretty damn awesome.

These guys didn’t know how the festival would go. They didn’t even know if people were actually going to show up for them. You’ll get to watch them experiencing all of these new things together from navigating social media to actually landing in another continent and have no idea where they are or what they’re doing. It makes for some really great laughs as well.

A big part of the documentary actually takes place in Germany. And really, that’s the absolute best part. They finally get to realize that dream they had from 35 years ago. Meet some of their fans they had no idea they’d made an impact on that long ago and finally get to perform for them. Definite fairy tale ending for some guys that had some big dreams long ago. It felt great!
