From the European country of Latvia, comes the hard rocking quartet known as Bloody Heels. These fellas are about to unleash a whole lot of rock and roll hellfire onto the masses when they release their latest album, Ignite the Sky (Frontiers Music SRL) on July 10th
The moment that you press play, you are in for a wild and thrilling musical ride. These guys bring the power of melodic heavy metal to generations of fans, both new and old.
Right from the start, the title track “Ignite the Sky” hooked me in instantly. I could not believe what my ears were hearing. Guitarist Harry Rivers is a madman with those monster riffs and incredible leads throughout the song. Vocalist, Vicky White’s voice is tailor made for this kind of music. There is so much warmth and power in his vocals. It is easy to see why Frontiers picked these guys up quick.
Next up is “Criminal Masterminds” which is the lead-off single from the album, and this one is all out energy and groove. This one definitely grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go. Chorus is super infectious and will have you singing along instantly.
“Farewell to Yesterday” is definitely another stand out track. Bassist Gunn Everett lays down a serious funk inspired intro that leads the rest of the band into an intense and high energy that features some of Vicky (White’s) best vocals of the album. Definitely reminds me of when I heard Steelheart for the first time, and being blown away by Mike Matijevic for the first time.
“Black Swan” is an excellent mid-tempo track that is heavy on that bottom end groove and really places the spotlight on guitarist, Harry Rivers. When that solo kicks in at the 4:19 mark, the song transcends to a whole new level.
“Thin Line” is pure melodic rock gold and easily my favorite track on the album. I must have pressed repeat about a dozen times. That chorus is so catchy and ready-made to be shouted out loud in arenas across the world.
“Silhouette” is a dark and moody track that is as close to a ballad as you will get on this album. The rasp and soul in the vocals and exquisite guitar playing really set this song apart from the rest.
Bringing the album to a close is the octane fueled “Streets of Misery.” The band turns up the heat and burns the house down with this electrifying mix of blazing guitars and relentless energy
Ignite the Sky will definitely turn some heads, and perk up even more ears. The music is bold, unapologetic, and so much fun to listen to. Everything that great rock and roll is supposed to be, the guys in Bloody Heels have brought it to 2020. Make sure that you add this album to your playlist collections when it drops on July 10th.
Rating: 9/10 Stars.
