Powerhouse pop-rock band Boys Like Girls is releasing their first new music in over 10 years on October 20 with a new album Sunday at Foxwoods via Fearless/Concord Records. Singer/guitarist Martin Johnson, guitarist Paul DiGiovanni, bassist Morgan Dorr, and drummer John Keefe are back with the follow-up to 2012’s Crazy World and the new album is full of fun, catchy hits.
The pop-rock song “New Love” has a captivating, upbeat chorus with a dance vibe. The band infuses a variety of musical genres that create magic to the ears and show why artists like Taylor Swift and Blink-182 have asked singer/songwriter Martin Johnson to write and produce songs for them.
“Miracle” is another pop-rock anthem that combines groovy bass vibes with an infectious melodious chorus.
The song “Cry” displays Johnson’s hit songwriting skills. The uplifting ballad combines a soaring chorus of guitars with moving lyrics as Johnson sings, “I swear it’s getting better all the time. Cause I can be your stars and I can be your moon tonight and I can be your shoulder when you cry.”
The high-energy “Story of A Lifetime” is another epic hit with choppy, funky break beats.
The closing track on the album, “Lost in Wonderland,” is a dreamy ballad, highlighting the musical diversity of the band with a beautiful string arrangement.
Sunday at Foxwoods is a great welcome back for Boys Like Girls. Packed full of feel-good hits with songs that defy genres, the album will resonate with music lovers.
