Cozi anda Flounder is a unique musical experience with Ezra Vancil and his daughter Cozi at the heart of it all. Even though she’s still young, Cozi started at a tender age of 10/11 years old. She has written over 50 songs, plays five different instruments and is an incredible lyricist and vocalist. Ezra is not a new comer to the music scene with decades of writing, recording, touring and performing experience throughout his career including performing at large music festivals in the United States in Texas. Using this knowledge and experience, he has mentored his daughter Cozi and launched Cozi anda Flounder as a band.

This father and daughter duo, surrounded with a band of old friends, has a genre of its own which is self- defined as cosmic country. Was it always Ezra’s idea to include his daughter in his career? No, but in the light of the covid pandemic, this changed. Studio were closed and he needed some vocals for his new album The Family Songbook with the first song that they wrote together “Parables.” After that, they recorded their debut EP The Place with Lori Martin on bass and producer Aaron Thomas on drums. This album was recorded in a forest, in the mits of the covid pandemic, contributing to the magical sound and ambiance. With songs like “Misty Girl” telling a generational story of a girl sailing of in to the world. With a sound so unique, you can just close your eyes and be transported to a faraway world of mystic creatures floating on boats and a father fighting off dragons and monsters. So, if you are in need of a short vocational holiday, the perfect combination of the black coffee, deep voice of Ezra and Cozi’s sugar sweet, raspy voice makes for a unique and pleasurable listen. It’s a definite recommendation from me.
