Canadian Hard Rock act Danko Jones return with their tenth studio album Power Trio, is out via Sonic Unyon. The three-piece consists of Jones on vocals, bassist JC and drummer Rich Knox. They have been round for 25 years, supporting iconic bands such as Guns ‘n’ Roses, Motorhead and ZZ Top.

Power Trio sees the band deliver another dose of hell-raising rock’n’roll true fans have come to expect.  The opener “I Want Out” is a rousing explosion of raw power and synergy that has Jones in reflective mood, as he sings I Wanna Leave/I Want Out in the chorus. Next up is “Good Lookin,” a real stomper full of groove and panache. The rampaging power chords of “Saturday” sees Jones show a soft side. The album continues to raise the stakes with Jones’ usual lascivious lyrics and fuzz-fuelled guitars.

“Blue Jean Denim Jumpsuit” is an example of this with its fist-pumping tunes about a devilish woman with groovy riffs and a salivating solo that sounds like Clutch. Other highlights include the Thin Lizzy influenced “Dangerous Kiss,” the headbanging “Let’s Rock It,” which would not appear out of place on any FM radio station. “Flaunt It” is a loveable punk song, whilst “Start The Show” ironically wraps up the album.

Overall, Danko Jones show no ring rust after quarter of a century together rocking stages and blaring out peoples’ stereos. Power Trio proves that rock is not dead with this pleasing release for fans of the band.
