Dead Poet Society’s second album Fission will be released January 26, 2024, via Spinefarm. As the follow-up to their debut full length album -!- (2021), it’s a powerful way to kick off 2024. The 13-song album is packed with explosive rock hits with hard-hitting lyrics. The band consists of Jack Underkofler (singer), Jack Collins (guitar), Will Goodroad (drums), and Dylan Brenner (bass). Underkofler says the goal of the album with its listeners is, “We want to leave them with the truth.”

The opening track, “52945,” is a heavy, thundering song and a strong way to lead the album, with singer Underkofler singing, “Can you feel it?”

A stand-out track, “LA Queen,” is energetic and catchy, filled with driving guitars. The song evokes the big production sounds of Muse and displays Underkofler’s powerful vocals.

“Hard to be God,” is groovy and full of heavy, distorted guitars with booming bass lines and drums. With Underkofler’s dynamic vocal range, this song highlights why the band will have a successful, long career.

“81 Tonnes” is another album highlight. The soaring chorus combined with thundering guitars makes this a fiery, exhilarating hit.

The concluding track “Black and Gold” is a high-octane song that will be popular at the live shows. The band’s musicianship is electric, and the energy is infectious.

Dead Poet Society knocked it out of the park with Fission and will make a massive impact on the music scene. The album is full of hooky, huge rock songs with profound lyrics that stick in your head.
