If you were a fan of the music scene around the Philadelphia/New Jersey area in the glory days of glam rock, you no doubt know the band, Heavens Edge. For the rest of us, we may remember their modest hit, “Skin to Skin,” but to be honest, this band is one of many that could have been huge if it weren’t for lousy timing.

Heavens Edge were in line to follow regional mega-acts like Bon Jovi, Cinderella, Skid Row and Britny Fox, but their 1989 self-titled debut album fell victim to the well-documented musical shift of the early ’90s. Since then, short of the occasional benefit show, the band has remained relatively quiet…until now!

Last year, original members Reggie Wu (guitars, keyboards), Mark Evans (vocals), David Rath (drums) and Steven Parry (guitars) along with newest member, bassist Jaron Gulino (Tantric, Mach 22), who joined the band after the tragic passing of original bassist George G.G. Guidotti, signed a deal with Frontiers Music and will release their first studio album in 25 years, Get It Right, on May 12.

If you can’t wait that long to hear how the guys sound after all these years, you’re in luck. The first single and video, “Had Enough,” is out now – and it rocks! Heavens Edge didn’t necessarily pick up where they left off because this song, and album, play well in 2023, but the essence of their signature sound remains.

Songs like “Gone Gone Gone,” “Nothing Left But Goodbye,” and “Raise Em Up” are all fun, rock and roll songs that prove the band hasn’t lost a step. Mark Evans’ vocals are the definition of this era of rock, and Reggie Wu has only polished his already masterful guitar chops over the years.

“Beautiful Disguise” may be the highlight of the new album. The anthemic, sing-along track showcases this talented band’s songwriting skills and demonstrates their authentic passion for the music they’ve been creating all their lives.

The album closes with “I’m Not the One,” and only leaves you wondering where these guys have been all these years!

At the height of their success, Heavens Edge were known for their powerhouse live performances. 30+ years later, they’ve managed to capture that live vibe on an album that’s been decades in the making.

Props to them for not throwing in the towel or resting on their laurels as a nostalgia act. These ten new rocking songs most definitely have a place in today’s music landscape!
