All the way from Wales, Swansea, I present to you, Helldown. On January 17, 2020, these thrash metal groove masters independently released their new EP, In Death’ Hands.
Influenced by bands such as Thin Lizzy, Metallica, Pantera, and Slayer, Helldown comes at your hard and fast like a speeding train and slows down for nothing!
Opening with “The Unnamed”, Helldown comes out swinging with big monster riffs, ferocious double bass drumming, and brutal vocals. You can easily pickup on the Slayer influence with this track reminding me of the Slayer classic, “Seasons in the Abyss” or even “War Ensemble.”
“Mortal Shell” is the first single from In Death’ Hands. Killer track that just unapologetically punishes your ear drums. Your fists will be raised and pumping during the “SHOUT” chants and guitar is once again on point. Rocking that air guitar is mandatory to say the least.
“Heretic” continues that doom and groove vibe with an extremely surprisingly catchy chorus. Give it a listen, you will see what I mean.
Closing out the EP is “Flames of Heresy”, in which the bands comes out all guns blazing and leaves everything on the floor. That groove is so heavy and infectious, you can’t help with bang and swing your head the entire song.
In Death Hands is definitely for those who love it heavy. If you are a pure metal fan, and you are into bands like Slayer and early era Metallica, you will definitely need to add this to your collection.
