Her Chariot Awaits is a brand-new project that is the brainchild of Adrenaline Mob guitarist, Mike Orlando. Featuring Ailyn (ex Sirenia) on vocals, Her Chariot Awaits delivers high-energy and emotionally charged music that is sure to please hard rock and metal fans alike.
Right from the start, the band makes their presence felt with fire and ins “Misery.” In a matter of seconds, the track goes from zero to “Holy S**t!” You’ll know exactly what I mean when you press play. From the rumble of the drums that segue to breathy vocals, and that blood curdling scream! It turns pure metal mayhem when guitarist Mike Orlando unleashes the fury with his leads and solos.
Following up is the driving and melodic first single, “Dead and Gone.” Much respect to drummer, Jeff Thai for his contributions to the track. He hits those skins with such power and precision! The chorus on this one is phenomenal. I was singing along instantly.
“Stolen Heart” is a straight-ahead, no frills hard rock song with a ton of swing and attitude. Mike (Orlando) is absolutely flawless on this track, and we get a glimpse into something more melodic and radio friendly.
In a bold and unexpected move, the band gambles on covering the K.D. Lang classic, “Constant Craving”, and it pays off huge! If you are familiar with the original, you will definitely appreciate that they have done in reimagining the track. If you have never heard the original, I suggest checking it out. You will definitely understand why their version is so stunning. Ailyn’s sultry vocal range really does the song justice and Mike Orlando’s heartfelt solo truly level up an already classic song.
“Line of Fire” is a venom fueled rocker that tells the tale of the new lover clashing with the old lover that just will not let go. The rawness of emotions is truly felt in the lyrics truly makes this number shine.
“Take Me Higher” is could quite possibly be the calling card for Her Chariot Awaits. The song showcases all of the best elements that make the band so incredible. The guitar work is absolutely flawless and Ailyn knocks out of the park with the versatility in her vocals.
“Just Remember” is an incredible and tender ballad that really hits you right in the heart. The song is one that we can all relate to. Reminiscing on love lost and remembering more than just the pain.
“Forgive Me Dear” brings the album to a very satisfying close. Great mid-tempo rocker that builds momentum and features and all-out frantic fret fest from Mr. (Mike) Orlando.
Her Chariot Awaits is the perfect combination of raw passion and technical precision. That is the best way I can describe this album and the band who made it. This is music you can feel with your heart and your brain. I would love to see what the future holds for Her Chariot Awaits.
If you are a fan of Adrenaline Mob, Sirenia, or just a hard rock and metal enthusiast like myself, I highly suggest that you pick up this album in any format you can. It has my vote for Top 10 albums of 2020.
