Last in Line’s self-produced album, Jericho, will be released March 31, 2023, on earMusic, a follow-up to 2019’s II. Formed in 2013, the band consisted of members of Dio, guitarist Vivian Campbell, drummer Vinny Appice, bassist Jimmy Bain, with vocalist Andrew Freeman, formally of the Offspring and Lynch Mob. When Bain passed away, the band brought in former Ozzy Osbourne bassist, Phil Soussan, to honor Bain’s memory of continuing the band.

The album’s huge, cohesively recorded rock sound is as exciting as a live show. Made possible by their recording process, Guitarist Vivian Campbell said, “With Last in Line, just as we did with Dio, we cut the basic tracks live. It’s important for us to capture the syncopation of playing together in real time-much like the energy of a live show.”

“Not today Satan” is a perfect track to kick off the album in all its fiery glory, with Freeman’s gritty vocals and the driving bass lines of Soussan. The single “Ghost Town” is a fierce, unyielding anthem as Freeman screams, “We’ll ride the cycle around while your cities are burning down. And if you know the way I’ll be back again someday. We’ll leave this place like a ghost town.” The dynamic guitar solo by Campbell is a major highlight of the song.

“Burning Bridges” is another in-your-face track. The song starts off with a slower tempo, then builds into an electrifying, defiant chorus, “Let the bridges that are burned, light the way and break the day for whom it may concern.” As a haunting piano concludes the track, the song proves to be a massive standout, exhibiting the strong musicianship of the band. The rowdy “House Party at the End of the World” ends the album on a perfect note and will have listeners raising the metal horns, rockin’ out, and dreaming of nights out on the Sunset Strip in the ‘80s.

Jericho is a perfectly executed rock album that the world needs right now. The musicianship of the band along with Freeman’s powerful vocal range makes this an album meant for every hard rock listener’s playlist.
