Internationally- recognised rock guitarist Orianthi presented her latest release Live in Hollywood, on 7/15 via Frontiers Music SRL. Recorded on January 8th at The Bourbon Room in Hollywood, CA. The guitarist finds staple support with her backing band that includes fellow guitarists Carmen Vandenberg and Nick Maybury, keyboardist Michael Bearden, bassist Justin Andres and drummer Glen Sobel.
The musician has received a recent resurgence with her appearances on the popular App TikTok, amassing over 80 million views for her Platinum-selling single “According to You.” This live release is an appetiser for her upcoming new studio album, set for 2023. The album mixes the guitarist’s cool and pleasant demeanour with her silky guitar skills and soulful vocals.
“Contagious” opens with a soothing bluesy guitar intro that settles the crowd before Orianthi bursts onto the scene with her magnetic personality and crunchy riffs. “Sinner’s Hymn” stirs some cheers in the audience, as the guitarist lets rip with some impressive guitar work. The album is well-paced with stadium pleasers such as “Think Like a Man” and “Impulsiv”’ mixed in with blues numbers “Blow”’ and “You Don’t Wanna Know” giving the audience an opportunity to enjoy the music, as well as get on their feet and join along with the more rousing tracks. The CIAA-certified “According to You” and “How Do You Sleep” are perfect tracks to end the show with pure emotion and heart, provoking one to wave those lighters in the air.
Overall, Orianthi presents a nice reminder to her career- dedicated fanbase, as well as Gen Z fans that she can still rock on a bigger stage than Tik Tok.
