Orianthi is back and as awesome as ever!
Her new album, Some Kind of Feeling dropped digitally on June 27 through Woodward Avenue Records, with CD on August 15 and vinyl September 19. Trust me, it’s worth the wait in any format.
The lead single “Attention” kicks things off with big hooks and, as always, those fiery Orianthi guitar solos we all love. An epic way to kick off the new project, setting the tone. Instant ear candy!
And there’s a great bonus on the album- a cover of ZZ Top’s “Sharp Dressed Man.” Orianthi puts her own spin on it, adding a cool, bluesy edge while staying true to the classic vibe. It’s a solid nod to a legendary track.
One track that seriously stands out is “First Time Blues” featuring Joe Bonamassa. That collab takes the bluesy vibe up a notch with two guitar legends trading heat. Yes please.
But the one that hit me the most? “Ghost.” It’s got this beautiful, emotional, gospel-inspired vibe, brought to life by the incredible backing vocals of Sharlotte Gibson, Luke Edgemon, and Maiya Sikes. And let’s not forget the emotion and signature bluesy wail of her guitar! It’s one of those songs that just lingers with you. I rarely hit repeat on a track right away; but this one? I had to. And the fact that Orianthi self-produced it just speaks to the endless talent she brings to the table.
From head bobbing grooves to soul-stirring moments, Some Kind of Feeling shows why Orianthi is in a league of her own. Her guitar gently weeps, and wails with a defiance all of its own -as it has in each and every release since her 2009 release, Believe, which featured her breakthrough hit, “According to You”.
So whether you prefer your music streaming, on vinyl or CD, make this part of your repertoire today! You will not be disappointed.
Then turn that volume up!
Windows down!
Dave over and out!
