Iconic musician Steve Lukather of Toto fame released his ninth solo album Bridges on June 16, 2023, via The Players Club/Mascot Label Group. His incredible career has spanned five decades, from Toto to various session recordings including Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

The album is a family affair with Lukather bringing together past and present members of Toto. As he describes the album, “I see it as a bridge between my solo music and Toto music. The fact that Joseph Williams, David Paich, and I wrote most of the record, and the fact I invited many of the old Toto gang to come and play, co-writers like Randy Goodrum and Stan Lynch brings all this together…I wanted to do a record ‘in the style of,’ as Toto will never record another studio album. This is as close as we will get… We will no doubt continue to work with each other on our respective solo works.”

The album kicks off with the high energy, rockin’ “Far from Over”. Joseph Williams contributes background vocals, synths, and percussion to the song. Co-written with Lukather’s son Trevor, the track proves why his career has stood the test of time as he sings, “So many friends have come and gone. Don’t carry me off, I’ll carry on, Far from over.”

One of the highlights of the album is “Someone.” The song with Lukather, Williams, and Paich will be a fan favorite with its catchy chorus and Lukather’s incredible guitar skills.

Another standout on the album “Take My Love” with Joseph Williams is a timeless hit. The soulful song with keys and epic guitar solos is an amazing display of musicianship.

Bridges does an excellent job of bringing together massively talented musicians to create a classic-sounding album with catchy hits.
