Los Angeles based Stitched Up Heart are back on the scene with their latest album, Darkness.

Opening up with the album’s first single, “Lost”, the band shows that they have come back swinging harder than ever. They’ve enlisted Godsmack vocalist, Sully Erna to lend his signature voice and really add something special to the track. Killer way to open up the album.

“This Skin” continues with the heavy and really showcases Mixi’s vocal prowess. The transitions from quiet whispers to raucous screams are incredible.

“Warrior” is the second single that has been released and is a true warrior’s call.

This track is a heavy hitter with some interesting electronic elements weaved throughout.

“Straitjacket” is super infectious and catches you by surprise with the dreamy melodic opening until the track explodes in the chorus with “ I don’t know about you, but my heart needs a straitjacket!”

Love the driving rhythms and hard hitting drum work.

The title track, “Darkness” is really cool mid-tempo track with a chorus that will have you singing and pressing replay over and over. This track could easily find its away on both the pop and rock airwaves.

“Dead Roses” is very powerful both musically and lyrically. The track focuses around the subject of betrayal in love. They’re is a great line in the song that I particularly latched on to. “You can’t break a heart that’s already broken!”

“Crooked Halo” switches things up and goes in more of an electronic and atmospheric direction. It’s definitely an unexpected and enjoyable change of pace .

Closing out the album is “My Demon.” This is the quintessential Stitched Up Heart track. Everything that makes this band great is shown on this track. The electronic elements mixed with powerful melody and blood curdling screams from Mixi (Demmer) bring the album to a most victorious end.

Stitched Up Heart have delivered a solid album of music that has something for everyone. Darkness truly levels up from its predecessor, Never Alone. There are some killer heavy tracks and there are some really cool tracks that lean more in the electronic and ethereal direction.

This is a must for any one who loves great hard rock music that’s not afraid to take chances.
