The gals at Thunderpussy are at it again, rocking our ears off with their newest EP Milk It (out Oct. 25  Stardog/Republic Records)Molly Sides (Vocals), Whitney Petty (Guitar), Leah Julius (Bass), and Ruby Dunphy (Drums) bring the noise and the boys, as they collaborate with Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Mike McCready (Pearl Jam) to bring a satisifying sound to all of those who love good ol’ fashioned rock ‘n roll. Each track given on this EP will have you bouncing, swaying, and grooving to the beat!

“Powerhouse” brings the power as soon as it starts. An interesting intro that incorporates clapping into guitars, the track brings an interesting, danceable song tempo that makes you want to clap or tap your foot along with it. The vocals shine, fusing into the music while still bringing power to the lyrics. A perfect track for even the most casual of listeners. Powerhouse includes guest drummer Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Despite the repetition, “Never Know” is an excellent rock track to groove to. It’ll have you head bobbing from the start to finish! It may be one of the simpler tracks of the EP, but that doesn’t detract any awesomeness with this song.

“On The Line” starts with an unassuming acoustic guitar and breaks into a raw, emotional vocal track. “I figured the words would just make sense/ Once they fell and hit the air” – and they did in this song! With words that could be ripped out of someone’s diary, this intimate song about another is sure to please the ears and heart of those listening. Almost seductive in mood, this one is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Mike McCready of Pearl Jam lends his talent as backup vocals and production on here.

Finally, we finish with “Trust A Man,” a catchy tune about not being a fool in love. The tempo is a bit faster overall, and Molly sings with a force that makes it sound like she’s actually sitting you down and telling you how it is. While still upbeat and toe tapping, the meaning of the lyrics are not lost within the catchiness. A fine indie tune everyone will appreciate.

1st single from the EP Milk It is out now & will soon be followed by “Powerhouse” (feat. Chad Smith on drums, dedicated to Molly’s mom) and “On The Line” (back-up vocals & production by Mike McCready). Their 2018 self-titled debut LP, also on Stardog/Republic Records, snatched up over 4 million cumulative streams — Mike McCready also produced and lends guitar on “Velvet Noose” from that one, calling Thunderpussy his “favorite new band.”
