Southern Florida’s own Union Kain just dropped their EP, Black Dawn to the masses, and we at I’m Music Magazine were fortunate enough to get a promo copy. Well, this five piece metal outfit have definitely made a fan out of me.

Heavy and unapologetic is the best way that I can describe this band. Thundering double bass drums, monster sized riffs, and vocals with passion and conviction are what you get with Union Kane.

Opening the EP is the heavy and punishing, “Battles Within.” Guitar intro is absolutely incredible, bringing to my mind bands like Judas Priest and Slayer. Furious double bass kicks in and paves the way for vocalist Glazergirl to deliver some impressive and biting metal vocal stylings.

The album’s title track, “Black Dawn” has serious low-end groove and those riffs! Heavy and thick with distortion set the stage for the band to lay waste throughout the song. Watch out for the wicked guitar solo!

“Lake of Fire” just screams sheer brutality with its intense double bass drumming and haunting guitar riffs and leads. While the track is slower it tempo, there is no loss of heaviness whatsoever.

The first official single, “Waiting For The World To End” is a straight ahead metal track that delivers a powerful message about how the world is so engrossed in technology that we wouldn’t even notice if the world ended.

Union Kain have delivered quite an impressive debut with Black Dawn. It is everything that a great metal record should be. Heavy riffs, solid and punishing rhythm section, and impassioned, gritty vocals. If you are a fan of heavy metal, go grab yourself a copy of this EP and support a killer hard working band.
