Finding Peace Through All the Noise is the latest release from hard rock group Another Day Dawns. The band formed in 2010 among teenage friends, and from there they created their own way out of small-town Pennsylvania. Building a following by sharing their singles online and playing festivals and shows throughout the east coast, the rock group debuted their first album in 2019, and from there only grew stronger and more well-known.
A forty-second intro begins Finding Peace Through All the Noise, transcending into the second track titled “Bitter.” “Bitter” captures the industrial-thrash-grime style of the early 2000’s metal, an in-your-face rock explosion, and is also the track with the most plays on music apps like Spotify.
“On and On” opens with thrash instrumentation yet softer more euphonic vocals, a stretch from the chaos of the previous track, but bursts straight into that hard rock energy quickly with the throaty screams and fire power.
A haunting and desperate rasp draws attention on “No Way Out.” This emotionally provoking track rouses an inner heaviness, a weighted feeling that is captured significantly. “No Way Out” is vulnerable and intense, with frontman Dakota Sean’s talents singled out on the bridge and a powerful drum lead-up mixing into the hardcore screams.
“Pull Me Under” is dosed with electrifying riffs riveting through the verses, and witty and direct lines such as “Start a new religion, you can take my name in vain” on the second verse. “Pull Me Under” is a thrill ride from start to finish, fun and harsh at the same time, a raging rock song full of angst.
“Pain” isolates the vocals in the beginning, and it’s the vocals and drums that lead the rest of the instrumentation with a rhythmic cadence. The industrial influence is pronounced on this track, with the long reverb and distortion on instrumentation, specifically the percussion.
A powerful, cleaner metal sound is heard on “Look at You (Remastered 2023).” This one in particular has a stadium-worthy bang, deserving of an audience (and perhaps a mosh pit). While leaning on the more traditional side of metal-rock, “Look at You” still holds onto the grimy-style that creates the band’s authentic sound, combined with a lighter pop tone similar to what artists like Bring Me the Horizon and Motionless in White have done. A foot in multiple genres to appeal to different listeners.
One of the songs off Finding Peace Through All the Noise that stands out the most is “Luminous Bloom,” for its psychedelic-rock and melodic emo nuances. The harmonies chanting “We’re all dreamers…” nearing the end enhances the alluring psychedelic tones, a dreamscape within a song, yet the verses of “Luminous Bloom” unloads darker connotations.
Another Day Dawns set themselves apart from modern metal acts with their use of nineties techno-styled beats, a sound that is profound and ever present throughout Finding Peace Through All the Noise, yet they never stray from the power and grittiness of heavy metal. Experimental and traditional at the same time, they’ve managed to secure a loyal fanbase throughout the years. The band recently finished a tour opening for Memphis May Fire and Atreyu this past summer, and with an album release show scheduled for the end of the year, there’s no telling how many more new listeners Another Day Dawns will lure in before 2024 which makes right now a great time to give the album a listen and get ahead of the curve.
