Artist Spotlight is a segment that we started to introduce our readers to some deserving up and coming artists/bands. They have made an impact on us for all of the right reasons. We think they kick ass, and we hope you do too! Today we’d like to shine the spotlight on Helsinki, Finland rockers Flush!
Finnish rockers Flush are released their second full length album, Noises, on 29th November 2024. The band continues its journey to create a safe space and vibrant community to those for whom the world today sometimes feels a bit too much. Taking inspiration from legendary punk acts and critical thinkers like Charles Bukowski, the band delivers its unique blend of punk, grunge, alternative rock, and metal. With their sincere and thought-provoking lyrics, the band provides a musical sanctuary for misfits all over the world. Flush calls their style of music community rock, best summarized in the last lines of their upcoming song We’re Not Yet Alright: “We’re all fucked so let’s be fucked together”.
Over the last few years, Flush has delivered its community-building message to the world with their two earlier releases, receiving positive reviews from rock magazines and gathering hundreds of thousands of streams from all over the world on Spotify. Now, Flush’s second album Noises will be released through Wormholedeath Records. Two singles will be released prior to the album, both with accompanying music videos. The main theme of the album is anxiety, and the songs include stories about personal experiences as well as reflections on society. Flush does not shy away from topics like domestic violence, the death of family members, alcoholism, break-ups or the end of the world, but to balance things out, the band also writes about space satellites, owls, multi-universe taxis and days on the beach. Hence, it’s not all doom and gloom, and lyrically this is also the sexiest Flush has ever been. Musically, the band has focused on creating songs that work well on live stages, leading to plenty of dynamic elements, catchy riffs and the occasional big choruses.

The album was recorded in June 2024 with sound engineer Owe Inborr at Wolfthrone Studios. Flush has also collaborated closely with visual designer Pedro Bergamo for the band’s new visual appearance, music videos, and promotional photographs. The album cover art is made by AD Tuomo Heiti. Wormholedeath Records (Italy) distributes the album globally, and Flush also works with PR agencies Ginger Vine Management & PR (Finland) and Rogue PR (UK).

We sat down with guitarist/vocalist Lasse Girs for a short, but fun Q&A session!
Every superhero or villain has an origin and a band is no different minus the radioactive spiders and secret government experiments. What is the origin of Flush?
Lasse Girs/Flush: Flush was founded way back in the 90s when alternative rock ruled the earth and punk rock was fast, melodic and intelligent. Four young guys dreaming of playing live on the biggest possible stages and writing the hardest riffs and biggest choruses ever known to mankind. That dream, our friends, is still alive.
Band names can have a meaning or it can be a name pulled out of a hat. What’s the story behind Flush?
The name ‘Flush’ is definitely more out of a hat than an elaborate story. We liked it as a short, one-word name that can mean multiple things. With our new logo it also looks really cool!
What are you currently working on?
We just released our second full length album Noises. It’s a collection of 13 songs, ranging from fast punk rock to heavier grunge sounds, and tells stories about space satellites, anxiety, owls, climate change, sex, love, and heartbreak. The usual Flush stuff.
If music was over today and you had to go into professional wrestling, what would your wrestling name be?
Ok, this is an awesome question! This is Lasse responding on behalf of the band, and I am going to create a character for each band member:
Börje (drums) will become Borge Camari, a sleazy Panamanian who will trick you into buying a property at his supposed holiday resort, but all he gives you is that tiny square on the floor where he plants your face. Hard.
Janne (guitars) will become Jay Slick, a lawyer and obedient follower of rules, so much so that he usually ends up beating the referee for turning a blind eye to obvious fouls committed by his opponent.
Eero (bass) becomes Nu-Metal Luke, sponsored by Adidas, he always enters the ring to heavy nu-metal beats, and will pound the living daylights out of his opponents by sheer persistence to a simple 1-3 beat.
Lasse (vocals, guitars) becomes Lyrical Lorenzo, a dark and emotionally troubled emo-goth, who will make his opponents cry by verbally touching their inner emotions and releasing all that pressure they’ve held inside for way too long.
We love cereal, especially at night. For some odd reason, it seems to taste better then. Do you have a favorite cereal?
I have so many questions about this question! Like, is there some sponsorship involved here, does the type of milk matter (yes, it does!), does the size and shape of the bowl matter (yes, it does!), and what about cereal cocktails? Which actually leads to my answer: I like blending various cereals. We usually have Cheerios at home, but I like throwing in some muesli, ideally some other cereal too, maybe some banana, and then see what happens. This way, every cereal meal is a new experience! /
