Artist Spotlight is a segment that we started to introduce our listeners to some deserving up and coming artists/coming bands. They have made an impact on us for all of the right reasons. We think they kick ass and we hope you do too!

Last Kiss Goodnight  is an American rock band from Baltimore, Maryland, formed in 2018. Comprised of veteran musicians from regional and national touring acts, such as Agents of the Sun, Live Alien Broadcast, The Mayan Factor, 51 Peg and My Enemy Complete, the band released its debut studio album in August 2019.  Last Kiss Goodnight aims to resonate with those nostalgic to hard-hitting rock to alt/grunge rock.

The alt rock band’s breakthrough single “Love Separation” debuted among the top five on the Most Added Billboard Mainstream Indicator Chart and nabbed the coveted #1 spot on the Most Added Foundations Chart Week their first week at radio and continue to resonate with fans and industry professionals alike.

“Last Kiss Goodnight wears their influences on their sleeve with bravado and sheer nerve while crafting songs that seem accessible for any generation of rock music fan,” Orlando said.

According to LKG Lead Singer Ray Patricks, developing the signature LKG sound was a delicate balance between taking cues from iconic grunge and rock bands, such as The Cult, Stone Temple Pilots, The Smashing Pumpkins and more, and shaping these with their own experiences.

“Last Kiss Goodnight is a much more sophisticated representation of us individually and together,” said Robert Lasky, drummer for LKG. “It took us all being in several past projects in order to finally fall into a group that we each feel very confident about”.

We recently spoke with lead singer Ray Patricks to learn a little more about Last Kiss Goodnight.

I’m a big music nerd and love to know what’s in a band’s name. Sometimes it’s something cool with a story behind it and sometimes it’s just something random. What about Last Kiss Goodnight?

Ray Patricks/Last Kiss Goodnight: The name Last Kiss Goodnight came from the song “Stitches,” which is on our debut album Immortal. Last Kiss Goodnight is another way to say the phrase “Swan Song.”

Every super hero or villain has an origin and so does a band minus the radioactive spiders and government experiments……..well, sometimes. What’s the origin of Last Kiss Goodnight?

The band originates from an online ad that was posted by our drummer Rob. Dan, our guitarist, answered the ad. The two met up and began formulating songs and arrangements. They started adding members out of the ashes of other bands from the Baltimore area. it took about a year to get the current line up in one room and working together on what is now the album Immortal.

What do you struggle with most while chasing your dream?

I don’t think that we struggle. Everything comes with challenges. Whatever challenges we are presented with we collectively meet them head on, overcome them and move on to the next. For example: a guitar string breaks in the middle of a performance. Dan or Carlo would play through that song. After the song is done they would throw the guitar to the guitar tech. The guitar tech already has another guitar ready to go and hands back the guitar to the guitarist that broke the string… on with the show.

Name one place in the entire world that’s on your bucketlist to play live.

Have you ever had stitches and what were the circumstances around them?

Figuratively speaking, my most memorable “stitches” are the ones that I referenced in my first answer and inspired our song “Stitches” from our new debut album Immortal. The story behind the track began with a love interest I was very passionate about. For a long time, I could not let that go. And I would hold all of that baggage and use it as fuel to drive me. Later in life, I learned that the “fuel” was actually an anchor. Writing for this song was a way to remove that anchor wedged in my soul – I essentially stitched myself back up and moved on.
