Artist Spotlight is a segment that we started to introduce our readers to some deserving up and coming artists/bands. They have made an impact on us for all of the right reasons. We think they kick ass, and we hope you do too! Today we’d like to shine the spotlight on Atlanta rockers Pistols at Dawn!

Atlanta foursome PISTOLS AT DAWN — Adam Jaffe [drums], Will James [lead guitar], Gabriel Cuevas [bass], and Jon Sookdew Sing [lead vocals]— are entering their unapologetic era.

Pistols At Dawn craft the kind of rock music that doesn’t just reach the rafters; it breaks through the ceiling. Sky-high hooks stretch into the heavens, a powerful low-end rumbles without apology, and riffs roar at all the right moments. Thus far, the Atlanta band have emerged as a phenomenon. They’ve amassed nearly 10 million global streams and views, infiltrated the Billboard and Mediabase Top 40 Active Rock charts, earned acclaim from American SongwriterBrave Words, and the Atlanta Journal Constitution, and embarked upon global tours alongside heavy-hitters such as Alter Bridge, Mammoth WVH, and Fozzy, to name a few. The quartet canvased the world throughout 2022 and 2023. Upon returning stateside, they opted to decamp to Los Angeles in order to assemble new material. Stayed tuned for more, because Pistols at Dawn are leveling up.

We sat down for a short but fun Q&A session with Pistols at Dawn.

Every superhero or villain has an origin, and a band is no different minus the radioactive spiders and secret government experiments. What is the origin of Pistols at Dawn?

Our drummer with Adam started this band in 2015 and in 2020 with the first real release decided to go all in. Flash forward to 2023 where the current lineup was solidified. Will was the second in our 4 piece to join after answering a Craigslist Add. Jon was the next after we had found him on TikTok doing a one-take vocal performance for his other band. Gabe and Jon have been friends for 10 years, so when the last piece was needed he knew the perfect guy.

Band names can have a meaning, or it can be a name pulled out of a hat. What’s the story behind Pistols at Dawn?

Pistols at Dawn: In the simplest of terms, the name all boils down to fighting for your honor and being willing to stand up and defend what/those which you love most! It’s an extension of looking back to the days when “duels” for honor and or to settle a dispute took place!

What are you up to right now?

Pistols at Dawn: Currently we are on tour with Des Rocs in Europe and the UK. We have 4 sold-out shows left in Krakow, Warsaw, Budapest and Prague. We also just released the second single called “Obsession” from an album that we recorded earlier this year in LA, while the first single “Not Sorry” is at #47 on Billboard Mainstream Rock!

If you have any of you have tattoos, what was your very first one and does it have any meaning behind it?

Pistols t Dawn: Only two of us have tattoos and they are both anime-related. Jon got the Joestar birthmark from JoJo’s bizarre adventure on his shoulder. “My favorite arc was stardust crusaders, and because the opening song was called Stand Proud, I got it to remind myself to always stand proud. Also, the first JoJo was Jonathan Joestar so it seemed fitting.” Gabe’s first one was the curse mark from Naruto, because he wanted to be edgy and get something cool.

What was your favorite cartoon growing up?

Pistols at Dawn: Not a US cartoon but for all of us: DRAGON BALL Z
