ARTIST SPOTLIGHT ~ VIRTUE IN VAIN

Artist Spotlight is a segment that we started to introduce our listeners to some deserving up and coming artists/ bands. They have made an impact on us for all of the right reasons. We think they kick ass and we hope you do too! Today, we’d like to shine the spotlight on Virtue In Vain!

Virtue In Vain are a 4 Piece Progressive Metalcore band coming straight out of South Wales. With members based around Wales & London, they have played extensively around the UK showcasing their energetic live shows and pouring everything they have into their music. With a combination of heavy & fast riffs with the raw honesty of the lyrics, Virtue In Vain has a clear desire to leave a lasting impression.

We sat down with the band for a short, but fun Q&A session!

Every superhero or villain has an origin and a band is no different minus the radioactive spiders and secret government experiments. What is the origin of Virtue In Vain?

Our Vocalist started the band a number of years ago and was soon joined by our guitarist. Over the years the band played with bands in the local scene that contained our drummer and bassist. Later on down the line with member changes, they joined the band and it hasn’t changed since.

Band names can have a meaning or it can be a name pulled out of a hat. What’s the story behind Virtue In Vain?

We wanted the band name Virtue In Vain to represent something we relate to. In essence the idea of anti-idolism. The name portrays the idea that you shouldn’t have to look up or follow the same path as someone or something just because it has been portrayed as successful. That just because you take the path less travelled by doesn’t make your view any less valid, we are all different and wealth and success has no bearing on character.

What are you currently working on?

We are currently working on our next EP and a few unannounced tours we can’t wait to show you all.

If music was over today and you had to go into professional wrestling, what would your wrestling name be?

Hywel: My Tuff Hywel

Are you a good cook? What’s your best dish to prepare?

Hywel: I’m Ok, my best dish is Spaghetti Bolognaise

Emyr: Roast Dinner for me

Mason: Spag Bog
