On September 5th the BabyKlok Tour hit Nashville at Municipal Auditorium. This was a dream come true for many metal fans all across Tennessee and the bands did not disappoint as the heaviness was brought. Jason Richardson, Born of Osiris and Chelsea Grin guitarist opened the show solo showcasing his technical death metal skills. Shortly after the lights went black and the back wall started up with a Metalocalypse intro as the band members filled the stage. The entire time I found it hard to believe I was actually witnessing the cartoon metal band I fell in love with all those years ago. Dethklok was as brutal as they were on tv as on stage. I enjoyed that Brendon Small did the vocals for each member throughout the set and each song had its own video screen full of animations depicting the lyrics and setting. After Dethklok there was a stage swap and the legendary BabyMetal hit the stage. I admit this may be the tightest band I’ve seen all year. The J-POP inspired death metal was technical and heavy yet super catchy and easy to dance to. I don’t think the three vocalists stopped moving the entire set as they went from side to side on the stage firing people up. A special moment in the set was when Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine appeared on the screen to play along with the song he and BabyMetal released together. Truly an epic night for metal and for this perfectly filled bill. Be on the lookout for the BabyKlok Tour near you as these bands tear it up together.
