Blackberry Smoke made their very first visit to the DPAC (Durham Performing Arts Center) on February 15 as their Be Right Here Tour 2024 made a stop at the award winning venue. It was not declared an official sell-out, but it had to be pretty damn close to being one. After a rocking opening set from Duane Betts and Palmetto Motel, the guys hit the stage running with “All Over The Road.” Their band sound amazing live as they’ve becoming tight and seasoned veterans playing together. Charlie Starr is a pretty damn amazing frontman and very underrated in my opinion. As we looked around the venue, we couldn’t see a single person sitting during the band’s performance. The band covered many aspects of their discography including three tracks their new album Be Right Here. Duane Betts joined them during their encore for a cover of Blind WIllie McTell’s “Statesboro Blues.” The band’s first album came out in 2003, so it’s hard to believe that this was their very first time playing at DPAC. They’ve visited all around the area, but never here. With the response they they received on this visit, it’s safe to say it won’t be their last.
