Candlebox are set to release their final studio album The Long Goodbye on August 25, 2023 and this year marks the 30th anniversary of their self-titled debut. While the band has spent most of the summer on tour with 3 Doors Down, they’ve also been playing select headline dates across the country. We were stoked to check them out on August 6th when they rolled into Roanoke, Virginia for one of those headline dates.

When we got to the venue that afternoon, we were met with a huge crowd. The doors were delayed for a bit due to a summer storm, but that didn’t seem stop anyone from lining up to get into the show. When the doors opened, it wouldn’t be long before The Dead Deads hit the stage. They played an incredible 1 hour long set and had no problems getting the crowd riled up.

Candlebox hit the stage after a short break and dove straight into “Arrow” from their 1993 debut. The band would play a variety of tracks off almost every album  and included 2 brand new tracks from their upcoming album. Much to the delight of the fans, they mostly played tracks from their debut. That had everyone singing along. Vocalist, Kevin Martin, spoke a lot about his 30 years on stage singing these songs and still sounds incredible on every track. As the night was drawing to a close, the band would of course play their biggest hits “Far Behind” and “You” then would close out the night with “The Bridge” off of 2016’s Disappearing In Airports
