Candlebox released their final studio album The Long Goodbye on August 25, 2023. While they’ve spent most of the summer on tour opening up for 3 Doors Down, they also managed to squeeze in a full headline tour in between those dates all across the U.S. We were excited to be able to catch their final U.S. headline date for The Long Goodbye Tour on September 7, 2023 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The band hit the stage at The Cove which is located in River Spirit Casino Resort in Tulsa. The Cove is a 2500-seat theater located right inside the casino and hosts loads of musical acts. The theater was packed for Candlebox that night. On previous headline dates, the band had brought along some opening guests. But this night would just be Candlebox and everyone was excited for it.
The band hit the stage right at 8:00 and had everyone on their feet and cheering. Candlebox would start out with “Stand” off of 2008’s Into The Sun album. Since this year also coincided with the 30th anniversary of Candlebox‘s debut album, much a the year they’ve spent playing most of that album. They definitely did play a lot of tracks off their debut this night, but then they snuck in a bunch of fan favorites that they don’t get to play often, like “10,000 Horses” off of 1998’s Happy Pills, and “Crazy” which appeared on 2016’s Disappearing In Airports. In addition, they played several tracks off of their recent release The Long Goodbye.
Each track kept everyone in the audience on their feet and singing along absolutely all night. After playing their biggest hits “Far Behind” and “You,” the band closed out the night with an incredible performance of “Rain.” The band has very few tour dates left, but if you get the chance, you should definitely catch them live while you can. Every night is a great performance. Check out their remaining tour dates, at: https://www.candleboxrocks.com/tour
