Train and REO Speedwagons’ Summer Road Trip Tour 2024 rolled into a packed Coastal Credit Union Park at Walnut Creek in Raleigh, North Carolina on August 9, 2024. After a great set by REO, fans had to wait a while for Train because a storm with lots of lightning was in the area. It finally moved on but the delay caused Train to have to cut their set short by about 15 minutes. Train lead singer Pat Monahan made mention of the delay at the beginning of their set and that they were going to make the most of it. The band ended up playing past the venue’s strict 11:00pm curfew for weekend shows. They opened with a powerful and emotional “Calling All Angels” but lightened the mood with their next song “If It’s Love.” That’s the song that had me and my fellow photographers dodging cellphones as fans were tossing them at the stage for Pat to take a selfie with. Train staples such as “Meet Virginia,” “Marry Me” and “Hey Soul Sister” were all there. Even though it was about 15 minutes shorter than expected, Pat and the band packed it tight and made it a very enjoyable show by all in attendance. A full setlist follows the photo gallery.
