Wang Chung brought quite a few hits with them to this year’s I Want My 80s Tour and fans everywhere were ready to dance! The tour stopped in Raleigh, NC on June 4 at the beautiful Red Hat Amphitheater in downtown Raleigh. Again, I know I read in the announcement of this tour that all bands were doing full sets. The band only played six songs with one of them being a Clash cover. Why not “Don’t Let Go” or “To Live and Die in LA”? Let’s turn this negative vibe around into some positivity because the set was great. They were a ton of fun and had the crowd in the venue dancing from beginning to end. The large screen behind them was like a scrapbook retrospective showing pix of the guys all throughout their career as they performed. Fun fact: The band’s name was initially spelled Huang Chung but changed to Wang Chung a few years into their career. Hopefully they will return to Raleigh in the near future because we could use another dose of these guys!
