Fastball is currently on the second leg of the Last Summer on Earth Tour 2025 with Sugar Ray and headliners Bare Naked Ladies. The tour made a stop in Raleigh, North Carolina on July 12, 2025 at the beautiful Red Hat Amphitheater in downtown Raleigh. It was a typical summer day in the south being hot and humid. The crowd was filing in early which was awesome for Fastball who was going on early in the evening. As traffic was filling up the streets outside of the amphitheater with people making their way home after a long day at work, Fastball was cranking up the musical way back machine to take the fans on fans on a journey.
The band kicked off the show with “Sooner or Later” from their big album All The Pain That Money Can Buy. The setlist leaned heavily on that album with four songs from it being played. Fans of the band noticed something a little off and everyone there was informed that drummer Joey Shuffield was unable to play so they had to call in a backup to join them. Luckily they didn’t have to look too far as Dean Butterworth of Sugar Ray filled in for them. I’m glad that they included “Hummingbird” from their latest album Sonic Ranch. I hope it made some people curious to dig into their catalog to see which album it was off of because that album (their latest) is pretty awesome and very underappreciated by the masses. The band sounded amazing and original members Tony Scalzo (vocals/bass) and Miles Zuniga (vocals/guitar) have aged like a fine wine. They sounded stronger than ever! I hope we don’t have to wait so long for the band to revisit Raleigh! A full setlist follows the photo gallery.
