Foreigner, Styx and John Waite were rockin’ and rollin’ down the road on their Renegades and Juke Box Heroes tour when they made a stop at the Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek in Raleigh, North Carolina on August 21, 2024. They never said the show was officially sold out, but I did not see an empty seat in the venue, much less a blade of grass unoccupied on the lawn! This is a band that knows how to have a fun time when they hit the stage. Kelly Hansen is so criminal underrated both vocally and as a frontperson. The guy floors the gas once he hits the stage and never slows down. There may not be an original member of the original lineup in this band, but that are carrying on Mick Jones’ vision with his approval. The talent level alone in this band is insane! The years of experience and portfolio of work that each one brings to the table, or should I say stage, is impressive. It’s impossible to go to a show and not have a great time. The show is packed full of Foreigner classics! “Cold As Ice,” “Urgent,” “Feels Like The First Time,” “Dirty White Boy” and so many more. The regular showed closed with Kelly Hansen singing “Juke Box Hero” from a platform that rose far above the heads of everyone in the audience. The encore highlighted “I Wanna Know What Love Is” and featured the Clayton (North Carolina) High School choir. What a cool thing for a bunch of young kids to be able to say that they did! They sounded great too! The show then closed with the classic “Hot Blooded.” I dare you to come to a Foreigner show and not have a good time. I just can’t imagine how you can’t! This show was so much fun from beginning to end!
