Parliament Funkadelic Featuring George Clinton brought the “P-funk” to The Ritz in Raleigh, North Carolina on August 9, 2023. It was a beautiful show of unity and bringing all types of people together for the love of music. It’s hard to believe that this icon is 82 years old when you see him dancing on stage like he was. The Kannapolis, North Carolina native did take a moment to sit from time to time as his huge ensemble would take over. The stage was full, almost too full, of help from his band, plus singers, rappers and even a member in the photo pic on the mic for most of the show. The music was so much fun and it had people singing and dancing. The only thing that I missed was the look of Parliament Funkadelic. With the exception of Clinton, who was definitely dressed for the occasion, the wild costumes of past Parliament Funkadelic shows was missing. In its place were t-shirts and torn jeans. The classic tunes were there including “Get Off Your Ass and Jam,” “One Nation Under A Groove,” “Give Up The Funk (Tear The Roof Off The Sucker,” “Atomic Dog” and many others.
