Gov’t Mule are out on the road promoting their latest album Peace….Like A River. The tour made a stop at the beautiful Koka Booth Amphitheater in Cary, North Carolina on September 30, 2023.
Gov’t Mule consists of Warren Hayes on lead vocals and guitar, Matt Abts on drums, Danny Louis on keyboards and is Kevin Scott on bass. Gov’t Mule shows are usually made up of Gov’t Mule songs, covers and extended jam sessions. The show started out with an explosion of light and their song “Stone Cold Rage.” The band shuffled through three of their own before the first cover tune was tapped into. That one was “Snatch It Back and Hold It” by Junior Wells’ Chicago Blues Band. The J.B.’s “Doing It To Death” was the only other cover in the first set. The second set graced us with covers of songs from Tom Waits, Bob Marley and The Allman Brothers. In all, we were graced with three songs from their new album Peace….Like A River, five covers and selections spanning over seven other albums in their extensive discography.
