Saturday night, heavy metal legends Accept delivered an electrifying performance at The Strand in Providence, RI, reminding fans why they’ve held a legendary status since the late ’70s. The energy in the venue was amazing as the crowd—composed of die-hard fans buzzed with anticipation.
Kicking off the show with the thunderous “The Reckoning,” the band wasted no time setting the tone. The stage was awash in flashing lights, and frontman Mark Tornillo’s powerful vocals instantly captivated the audience. The chemistry between the band members was evident, especially as guitarist Wolf Hoffmann unleashed searing solos, each note sending ripples through the crowd.
Midway through the set, the iconic “Princess of the Dawn” erupted. The sheer power of the track, paired with Hoffmann’s fierce guitar work, showcased why Accept remains a staple of the heavy metal genre. The fans, fists pumping, and voices raised, embodied the spirit of the song, creating a communal energy that felt almost transcendent.
The band also took a moment to honor their legacy with classics like “Fast as a Shark” and “Pandemic.” The latter was a standout, its melodic beauty contrasting with the heavier tracks, providing a moment of reflection before plunging back into the chaos of headbanging riffs. Tornillo’s ability to convey emotion through his voice added depth to the performance, proving that his tenure with the band has solidified him as an integral part of Accept’s identity.
As the set drew to a close, “Balls To The Wall,” a fitting tribute to the band’s enduring spirit. The night concluded with a raucous energy, the audience still roaring long after the final note faded. Accept’s performance was a masterclass in heavy metal, blending nostalgia with raw power.
One thing that stood out was the pure joy that was on the faces of the band, doing what they Love. Besides Hoffman who is the last remaining original member of the band. Uwe Lulis on Rhythm guitar and background vocals, Philip Shouse on Guitar, Bassist Martin Motnik and absolutely crushing the kit, Christpher Williams, were as tight of a band as I’ve seen.
Overall, Accept’s concert at The Strand was more than just a show; it was a celebration of decades of hard-hitting music. For anyone who appreciates the raw intensity of metal, this concert was an unforgettable experience, proving once again that Accept is not just a band, but a cornerstone of the heavy metal landscape.
