When Falling In Reverse’s September 4, 2024 concert date in Raleigh, North Carolina rolled around, people were wondering “will they or won’t they?” You see, the band was scheduled to play in Charlotte, North Carolina on September 2 and less than an hour before the doors opened, the band canceled. The reason given was “due to production limitations with the venue.” People on the internet started commenting that it was because the stage was too small. Sounds legit, right? You can always believe what you read on the internet. The gates actually opened on time on September 4 at the Red Hat Amphitheater in Raleigh, so that was a good sign. Jeris Johnson opened the show, then Tech N9ne, Black Veil Brides and Dance Gavin Dance all performed. Yet another good sign, right? After DGD finished a short time went by, some people were getting a bit nervous. Then, someone who may have been a roadie appeared centerstage under a single spotlight and he announced that he was sorry but he was the bearer of bad news. The show tonight was canceled because the stage was too fucking small. The lights went dark again and some people looked at each other in confusion while others laughed. A few seconds later, AC/DC’s “Highway To Hell” began to play and Ronnie Radke and the band appeared on the large projection screen behind the drumkit. They could be seen behind the amphitheater walking to the stage. The joke was on us!
The band took the stage and delivered a blazing hot performance! Blazing hot complete with an awesome pyro show of intense flames! Ronnie was on a platform that stretched from one side of the stage to the other that he constantly walk back and forth on. The down side of that was that it made it hard to see his bandmates. Eight of the 14 songs during his set were off his lates album Popular Monster. That includes “Ronald” which he closed his encore with and brought out Tech N9ne to perform it with him. It was a great show and Ronnie was full of energy. The band sounded great and that pyro was pretty awesome! I’m really glad he brought out Tech N9ne for “Ronald” because I, along with just about everybody there, would have been disappointed if he didn’t. Will we ever find out the 100% true answer for why he canceled the Charlotte, NC so close to show time? Probably not and I feel sorry for all of those fans, but I, along with all of the Raleigh, NC fans in attendance, am glad we got ours! A full setlist follows the photo gallery.
