INXS’s fifth album, Listen Like Thieves, is turning 40 this October, and to celebrate, the band is releasing an expansive 40th anniversary edition of the album.
Listen Like Thieves spawned the release of four singles: What You Need—the band’s first Top 5 single in the US—This Time, Kiss The Dirt (Falling Down The Mountain), and the title track.
Today, INXS have detailed the comprehensive 40th anniversary edition of the album, which will contain a brand-new remix by Giles Martin and Paul Hicks, previously unreleased outtakes and studio demos, a recently unearthed BBC recording of the band performing Live From The Royal Albert Hall, London, 1986; in addition to extensive liner notes and a new interview with journalist Paul Sexton, and the album arriving with a brand-new Dolby Atmos mix.

The 40th-anniversary edition of Listen Like Thieves will be released in multiple formats, including Deluxe Edition 3CD/LP, CD and vinyl, Extended Edition 2CD, and the 1LP 40th Anniversary Edition vinyl. All editions of the album will be released on Friday, 9 May – you can pre-order your copy here.
Giles Martin, the band’s executive producer, said of the forthcoming release: “It’s been such an honour to work on this pivotal album from INXS’s career. It’s a collection of recordings masterly produced by Chris Thomas [Listen Like Thieves producer], which helped the band define their own style and reach a massive global audience. It’s an iconic rock album of its age.”
