I’m Music Magazine Photographer/Writer Kris Cagle was part of the madhouse of a show that L.A. Guns had on July 12, 2023 at The Basement East. The venue was packed and there was no photopit, so it was a tough shoot and a crazy one as well. L.A. Guns were blazing hot! Singer Phil Lewis seems to have been rejuvenated after getting Tracii Guns back in the band back in 2016. The band sounds better than ever and have released four kick-ass albums. On this night, Phil sounded great and really commanded the stage. The two guitar attack of lead guitarist Tracii Guns and rhytm guitarist Ace Von Johnson are one helluva one-two punch. The rhythm section of bassist Johnny Martin and drummer Shawn Duncan really lay down that foundation for the rest of the band to build on. It’s scary good to think about how amazing this band is live and they’ve been doing this for 40 years!
