On Tuesday November 7th, Mac Sabbath brought the More than Meats the Eye tour to the Exit/In in Nashville, TN. Special guests included The Cybertronic Spree and Playboy Manbaby. The show kicked off with a bang as Playboy Manbaby took to the stage with an unmatched energy. Their manic style of rock and roll was accented perfectly by a horn player and had the entire crowd moving. I admit, nothing could have prepared me for the next act. Go see The Cybertronic Spree as soon as you get the chance. They brought seven string shred, luscious synths and the most rocking vocals Nashville has had in a long time. As a special treat, members of The Protomen joined them on stage to do the sickest cover of “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC. Be sure to check out their new album Ravage that came out on August 4th. Closing out the night was a special band, a band that the entire world needs to experience, Mac Sabbath. Prior to coming on stage there was a huge banner blocking the view with two clown heads on both sides, representing the madness that was about to embrace the crowd. Then, as you heard the thickest brown note guitar strum that you could ever conceive the banner dropped and the riffs began. Mac Sabbath is a special breed of band, one that only the most creative type of person could come up with. It’s as if McDonalds and Black Sabbath had a lovechild and that lovechild was Mac Sabbath. Ronald Osbourne, the vocalist, portrays Ozzy Osbourne perfectly, from his stage mannerisms to his unique vocal style but what I appreciated the most was everything from the clothes he wore down to the Black Sabbath lyrics were fast food inspired making the show their own. They had a grill on stage with them as well as ketchup and mustard dispensers that he used to soak the crowd with. I really appreciated the ten foot straw he pulled from his loins to shotgun a beer with the help of his minimum wage worker on the other side. It was a true honor to be able to hear “Sweet Beef” (a play on “Sweet Leaf”) as that riff is timeless with its own charm having to do with food. Be sure to catch this tour, their next stop is Saturday November 11th, in Austin Texas.
