I am sure you can imagine some of the looks that I got when I told people at work that I was going to photograph a Ninja Sex Party. This would be my first time seeing the guys live as well as TWRP. Thanks to YouTube, I had somewhat of an idea what to expect. The Ritz in Raleigh, North Carolina was SOLD-OUT well in advance of the band’s Pure Elegance Tour making a stop there. It was almost like Halloween in June as lots of people at the show were dressed up in all sorts of outfits. There was this sense of happiness and fun that flowed all throughout the sold-out venue. I’ve never experienced such a feeling in that venue and I’ve been photographing there for many years. After an extremely entertaining sets by TWRP, the band returned to the stage as they are the back-up band for Ninja Sex Party which consists of singer Dan Avidan and keyboardist Brian Wecht.
Their set consisted of NSP originals as well as covers of the Tears For Fears 80’s classic “Everybody Wants To Rule The World,” “Korn’s “Freak On A Leash” and more. It was such a fun show! High energy, great music and funny too. My only complaint (which can apply to almost any show) would be against people in the audience on the floor who want to make their way to the front. They tend to get rude and push people out of their way. I’ve never understood why people think they have the right to do that. It really ruins the vibe for those people around them.
